KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has sought arguments from the petitioner and the order of the Supreme Court on the admissibility of the petition against the notification of the appointment of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister.
A hearing was held in the High Court on the application against the notification of appointment of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as Deputy Prime Minister. After passing the application, the lawyer Tariq Mansoor advocate stated that there is no post of Deputy Prime Minister in the constitution. Articles 90, 91 and 99 of the Constitution have no scope for the post of Deputy Prime Minister.
According to the petition, there is no such provision in the Federal Government’s Rules of Business, 1973. The Supreme Court has decided in its decision that the Cabinet will consist of only the Prime Minister and the Federal Ministers.
The court remarked that Parvez Elahi was also appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister, on which Tariq Mansoor advocate argued that there are orders of the Supreme Court in this regard.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing till May 16 after seeking arguments from the petitioner’s lawyer regarding the admissibility of the petition and the order of the Supreme Court in this regard.
