The US is planning to add a hypersonic bomber to its air fleet that will be capable of flying at a speed of 11,265 kilometers per hour.
The project called ‘Project Mayhem’ costing 334 crore 43 lakh dollars is aimed at creating a high-speed bomber that can put dust in the eyes of other countries’ advanced air defenses.
Information about the secret project is very limited, but according to the US Air Force contract, Mayhem is a multi-mission project that can be used for survey and attack.
It is believed that two weapons will be installed in this aircraft. Apart from this, it will also have a hypersonic drone that can be used to survey enemy areas.
The documents mention ‘large unitary payload’ and ‘area effect’ weapons, which could possibly be a reference to missiles.
According to the information, this aircraft can fly at a speed of 11265 kilometers per hour, 10 times faster than the speed of sound.
