Rawalpindi: In view of security, a 2-week ban was imposed on meeting prisoners in Adiala Jail.
The Punjab Home Department has issued orders to the IG Prisons Punjab to ban the meeting and prison visits of prisoners and extradited persons for 2 weeks. Media coverage has also been banned.
According to Punjab Home Department, law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies have informed about the threat alert regarding Central Jail Adiala.
The Internal Security Wing of the Punjab Home Department has informed in the light of reports that the anti-state terror groups, which are supported by the enemies of the country, want to target Central Jail Adiala to spread chaos across the country. Necessary measures are urgently needed to avoid any such tragedy.
According to sources, the Interior Department conducted a security survey (search operation) inside the jail on March 13 through the staff of the Special Branch, Intelligence Bureau and Prisons Department, installed barbed wire on the boundary wall of the jail and bomb disposal squad team. Screening has also been ordered in and around.
Security clearance of government contractors and staff working in the jail has also been ordered. It has also been directed to conduct mock emergency drills and clearance operations by police and rangers to ensure security.
In Central Jail Adiala Rawalpindi, PTI founder Imran Khan, former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and other federal ministers and high profile prisoners are present.
The ban will be applied to all the inmates of the jail, including former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and former federal ministers Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Fawad Chaudhry.
