ISLAMABAD: The top officials of Pakistan and Turkmenistan have emphasized on speeding up the implementation of the “Tapi Gas Pipeline” project under the supervision of SIFC.
In this regard, Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Mossadegh Malik met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Cabinet of Turkmenistan, Rashid Mirdov, who was on a two-day visit to Pakistan.
The Tapi Gas Pipeline project will lay a long pipeline that will start from Turkmenistan and enter Afghanistan, from where it will reach Pakistan and then India.
The total length of Tapi Gas Pipeline is 1,814 km which will be 214 km from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, 774 km from Afghanistan to Pakistan and then 826 km from Pakistan to India-Pakistan border.
The capacity of this pipeline will be 33 billion cubic meters of gas, which will work at a working pressure of 10,000 kilopascals.
This project is an expression of the commitment of Safe Pakistan, Strong Pakistan through reduction of energy cost, promotion of industrial development, employment and economic growth.
Reliable and affordable energy supply is very important to industries for growth of various sectors and overall economic stability.
Dr. Mossadeq Malik said that “substantial progress has been made through mutual cooperation on the Tapi Gas Pipeline project, which aims to promote economic integration and energy security.”
Speaking on this occasion, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Mirdov said, “We will prepare a road map for cooperation with Pakistan.”
Mohammad Mirat Amanov, CEO of Tapi Pipeline Company, said that “with the special interest of Pakistan’s Ministry of Petroleum and SIFC, the Tapi Gas Pipeline project has made significant progress and is on the right track.”
This project is a testament to the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Turkmenistan that reflects the shared goals of regional stability and prosperity through solutions to energy shortages.
SIFC’s cooperation is of strategic importance in enhancing regional connectivity. Continuous efforts of SIFC are providing conducive environment for a safe and strong Pakistan by carrying out various projects.
