KARACHI: Pakistan’s maize exports have recorded an extraordinary increase.
Pakistan’s maize exports have seen a phenomenal increase, reaching US$ 324 million during July 2023 to February 2024, an impressive growth of 195% compared to US$ 10 million in the same period last year. The major markets for Pakistani maize include Vietnam, Malaysia, Korea and Oman.
Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) along with Agriculture Department Punjab has initiated an active initiative to organize awareness seminars on maize production and export opportunities in major maize producing regions.
The first seminar of the series was held today in Okara, the insights of the Trade and Investment Officer in Vietnam and the Trade and Investment Adviser in Korea provided valuable information on export needs and potential opportunities for maize exports to Vietnam and Korea. .
In the last session, representatives of local farmers expressed their challenges while a leading exporter from Karachi described the export needs of maize as an important region. Honorable Investment Officer and Counselor of Sahiwal and TDAP addressed, seminar production technology.
