Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that for building a safe and developed world, one must start with the individual.
In a statement on World Scout Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Scouts of Pakistan and around the world as today we celebrate the spirit of leadership, community and service that is the foundation of this entire movement. Every year on February 22, Scouts around the world remember with reverence the legacy of Lord Robert Stephenson Smith Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement.
The remarkable performance in the history of the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, especially as it prepares for the 15th National Jamboree in April 2025, is a source of joy. With its Vision 2030 and collaboration with the World Scout Bureau’s Asia Pacific Region, the Association is poised to strengthen international partnerships, share best practices for Pakistan at the global level and highlight Pakistan’s contributions to global Scouting.
Trained Scouts have played a valuable role in both times of peace and crisis. Scouts are a living example of the Scouting motto, which says, “Be Prepared,” through resilience, leadership, and selfless service. The Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, while acknowledging the importance of Scouting, emphasized:
“To build a safe, clean and developed world, we must start with the individual. Let us prepare him (the individual) in his youth and instill in him, in accordance with the Scouting motto, purity in service, thought, word and deed, rising above himself.”
In the future, we must implement innovative and engaging initiatives that challenge young minds, foster motivation and innovation, and strengthen character. Initiatives like the “Messenger of Peace” provide Scouts with a powerful platform to promote unity, harmony, and meaningful social impact, inspiring them to become global citizens and play a positive role in society.
I sincerely hope that the Scout movement in Pakistan will continue to flourish, inspiring every boy and girl to embrace the values of Scouting and dedicate themselves to serving the nation.
President Asif Zardari, in his message on World Scout Day, said that we are celebrating World Scout Day to pay tribute to the services of Scouts in empowering and character-building of youth. Scouting instills discipline and perseverance in the youth. Scouting inspires the youth to serve the society. Service is the soul of Scouting.
