Karachi: Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has been fined $76,000 for his rude behavior in the first round of the Australian Open, and will be forced to forfeit the prize money of the season’s opening Grand Slam.
He hit his racket five times at the net before breaking it in the first round.
The Russian tennis player was in danger of losing to Thai wildcard player Kassidy Samraj, who he temporarily lost his temper at.
Then in the second round, he threw his equipment on the sideline against American opponent Lerner Tian and later did not even come to talk to the media after the match.
He has been fined for all these issues.
