The claims of a reduction in inflation will remain just claims, the prices of chicken in the market have skyrocketed.
Chicken meat has become the most expensive in Rawalpindi, with meat being sold for Rs 834 per kg, while live chicken is being sold for Rs 480 per kg.
Chicken prices have also reached an all-time high in Peshawar, with the price of chicken per kg increasing by Rs 25 in a day to Rs 510, while in Quetta the price of chicken per kg has reached Rs 620.
Chicken prices have also skyrocketed in Karachi, where it is being sold for Rs 680 to 700 per kg, while according to the rate list of the Commissioner Karachi, the price of chicken meat per kg is fixed at Rs 635. Farm eggs are being sold for Rs 330 to 340 per dozen in Karachi.
In Lahore city too, chicken prices increased overnight and reached Rs 700 per kg. In Lahore, the price of broiler chicken meat was Rs 595 for the last two or three days, but now according to the price list of Tollington Market, the price has been fixed at Rs 693.
Citizens are worried about the sudden increase in the price of chicken meat and have demanded action against those selling meat at self-imposed rates.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Syed Musa Raza says that action will be taken against those who do not sell chicken meat at the official rate, all Assistant Commissioners and Price Control Magistrates should take action against those selling at higher prices within their respective areas.
