Karachi: The faceless assessment system, introduced as a pilot project in Pakistan Customs under the FBR reform program, has started showing positive results.
Thanks to the faceless assessment system, an increase in the volume of customs duty and other taxes collected in December 2024 has been recorded.
According to Chief Collector Customs Appraisal Jamil Nasir, Rs287 billion was collected in December 2024 in terms of customs duty and taxes, while Rs226.27 billion was collected in December 2023.
He said that compared to Rs67 billion in December 2023, Rs86 billion was collected in terms of customs duty alone, an increase of 27 percent during December 2024.
According to Jamil Nasir, under the Customs Faceless Assessment System, 14,000 imported goods declarations have been assessed and cleared so far.
Jamil Nasir further said that the introduced Faceless Assessment System is conducive to the convenience of importers and the stability of the economy.
