Karachi: Renowned poet Ajmal Siraj passed away in Shahr Quaid.
He was suffering from lung cancer and was undergoing treatment for several days at a renowned private hospital in the city. He wrote several poems in which Bajj Gaya Raat Whe Satara Bhi and Maine Ae Dil Tujhe Sine Se Lai Hoa Hai became very popular.
Ajmal Siraj was born in 1968 in Karachi. He received his Masters degree from Karachi University and worked as a magazine editor with a private daily.
His collection of poems Aur Main Sochta Raha was first published in 2005 and was republished by Arts Council Karachi in 2010.
His funeral prayer will be offered today after Asr Tayyaba prayer at Zaman Town Mosque. His son Abdul Rahman Momin is also a young poet.
