ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that to increase the taxes, facilities must be provided to the people.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb while holding a press conference in Islamabad said that both America and China have to go ahead with the blocks, they are taking steps to improve the country’s economy, if taxes are to be increased, the government will also have to provide facilities to the people. Discussions are going on regarding taxes at the local level.
Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the salaried class tells me what have you done for us, we are trying not to put the burden of tax on the lower class, we have introduced the businessman-friendly scheme, we have made the process of taxation very easy for the businessmen. Tax defaulters are not sincere with the country and people, paying tax dues will strengthen the economy.
The finance minister said that providing facilities for traders and investors is a priority, there is a meeting on FBR reforms every week, the chief ministers will bring legislation for taxes in the agricultural sector.
He said that the complete lifestyle data of non-filers is available, the data will be the biggest proof, the tax officers will not be able to send notices directly to the non-filers, as a result of which the harassment from FBR will end. will be notified in a centralized manner.
In response to a question regarding multiple taxes on the poor, the finance minister said that the federal government is seriously considering reducing its expenditure and is reviewing five ministries for right-sizing, some sectors of the five ministries can be merged. are considering merger of IT and Telecom, health sector is responsibility of provinces, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan ministries need to be merged.
He said that there was a detailed discussion on energy with China. During the visit to China, there was talk of Panda Bond and shifting of coal power plants to local coal. Chinese ministers appreciated the discussion with the IMF. China will support Pakistan in the approval of the IMF board.
The finance minister stressed that we have to simplify the tax procedures, in foreign countries every year a simple form comes in which it is told that so much tax has been deducted, all the citizen has to do is tell that he has bought a vehicle. Or bought or sold a house, but here I see that every year the salaried class needs a lawyer to pay the tax.
