KARACHI: NAB has reserved its decision on the request of MQM leader Syed Mustafa Kamal and others regarding the restoration of allotment reference of government land in Clifton.
A hearing was held in front of the Accountability Court of Karachi on the application of NAB regarding the allotment reference restoration of government land in Clifton against former Nazim Karachi and MQM leader Syed Mustafa Kamal and others.
MQM leader Syed Mustafa Kamal and other accused appeared in the court. Syed Mustafa Kamal’s lawyer Hasan Sabir Advocate took the stand that Syed Mustafa Kamal is not accused of getting any financial benefit.
The court said in a dialogue with the prosecutor that according to the decision of the Supreme Court, this reference is not made at all. According to the law, any elected person must be accused of obtaining financial benefit. Where is the monetary gain in this reference?
The court remarked that you cannot ignore your incompetence, do not shoot arrows in the air. NAB officials left the pick and choose and followed the law. You people have adopted a different policy in Dr. Asim, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and this reference.
The court reserved its decision on NAB’s request to restore the reference, which will be heard on August 26.
