Baghdad: The Iraqi court sentenced the wife of the former head of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, to death.
According to the British news agency, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wife was sentenced to death for working with the terror group, crimes against humanity and keeping women imprisoned in her home. In a statement issued by the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq, it is said that members of Daesh kidnapped Yazidi women from Sinjar district and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wife imprisoned these women in her house in Mosul.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wife is in the custody of Iraqi security agencies. An Iraqi court official says the execution of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wife will be carried out after approval by the Iraqi Court of Appeal.
A criminal court today sentenced Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wife to death for crimes against humanity, the genocide of the Yazidi people and aiding and abetting terrorist acts, a judicial official told Reuters on condition of anonymity. Former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in an attack by US forces in 2019.
