ISLAMABAD: Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed has said that joining BRICS is a possibility as Pakistan wants to be part of the new emerging order of the Global South.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed is the first Pakistani to formally address the BRICS Forum, hosted by the current chair Russia.
The two-day BRICS forum was held in Russia’s Far Eastern port of Vladivostok, which is close to North Korea and Japan, and was organized by the ruling United Russia party.
The forum was told that 29 countries, including Pakistan, are applicants for BRICS membership, comprising half of the world’s population. Mushahid Hussain who is the co-chairman of International Conference of Asian Political Parties. He said in his address that Pakistan will prove to be a strong voice for peace as a member of the United Nations Security Council during 2025-2026.
BRICS can play an important role in promoting three trends in global relations. These include dialogue based on equality and the rule of law, democratization of international relations through state relations, and demilitarization of international relations. Israel is promoting armed or ‘Asian NATO’ to kill Palestinians. Third is the de-dollarization of the global financial system.
He thanked Russia and China for their principled stance on the Gaza genocide, saying that Israel has lost the war politically, morally, legally and diplomatically, while the pro-Israeli people in the decadent West have been exposed to double standards.
