The Islamabad High Court has asked for photos and a full report of the meeting room reserved for PTI founder Imran Khan in jail.
The court called for arguments at the next hearing and said that the superintendent’s argument has been told that there is no authority outside the jail. Islamabad High Court Justice Thaman Rifat Imtiaz heard Naeem Panjutha’s request to meet PTI founder.
Justice Thaman Rifat Imtiaz remarked that in the report, the Punjab government is saying that the responsibilities outside the jail belong to the district police, what does it mean? Does the Punjab government have no authority in this? The government lawyer said that this is the answer to the Deputy Secretary Jails.
Additional Advocate General Punjab said that SOPs have been prepared according to the wishes of Imran Khan, which are being implemented. Justice Taman Rifat Imtiaz said that the court rejected the application on the basis of not seeking permission from Superintendent Adiala and following the SOPs. The court said that despite the security issues in the bank, checking is easy and convenient.
When the court inquired about the meeting, the Additional Advocate General said that the purpose of the glass wall in the meeting is to prevent drugs or other suspicious items from being brought into the jail. When the public prosecutor said that the meeting with the lawyers of the other prisoners was not allowed, Justice Thaman Rifaat remarked that it is a matter that we cannot meet the lawyers in the jail.
The court asked for the photos of the meeting room in the jail and the arguments related to the report and police jurisdiction. The case will be heard next week
