The District and Sessions Court Islamabad has reserved its decision on the request to issue production orders in the murder case against PTI leader and Imran Khan’s nephew Hasan Khan Niazi and directed to submit the list of accused in military custody.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah heard the murder case against PTI leader Hassan Niazi, Hassan Niazi’s lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha appeared in the court and took the position that Hassan Niazi is in military custody, the court should issue his production order. Hassan Niazi was picked up from Abbottabad, not even allowed to meet his family and lawyers.
The lawyer said that there was a meeting after the court order and it was found that Hasan Niazi has been tortured.
On this occasion, the prosecutor said that Hasan Niazi’s medical report has been attached to the record, on which lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha said that the medical report was attached 6 months ago, what is the proof of the report being authenticated? Hassan Niazi should be produced in court.
The prosecutor took the position that Hasan Niazi does not need to appear in court as the charge sheet has not yet been filed.
Naeem Panjotha took the stand that the court has to protect the fundamental rights of the accused, is it the government’s job to make them disappear and say that we don’t know? The Attorney General had submitted a list in the Supreme Court that 104 accused including Hasan Niazi are in military custody.
He said that Hasan Niazi did not give a statement against founder PTI, so he has been detained.
Judge Abbas Shah directed that the list of the accused who are in military custody should be submitted to the court. He will decide on Hassan Niazi’s production order request on Saturday.
The court adjourned the hearing till June 8 while reserving judgment on Hasan Niazi’s request to issue production orders.
It should be remembered that Hassan Khan Niazi was arrested from Abbottabad in August 2023. Hassan Niazi was arrested by the police on August 13 from Abbottabad who was absconding since the protests of May 9 and 10.
It should be noted that after the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from the Islamabad High Court premises in the Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9, there was a nationwide protest by the PTI, during which military, civil And private installations were set on fire, public and private property was severely damaged.
The protesters also stormed the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, and broke a gate of the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
1,900 angry protesters were subsequently arrested in clashes with law enforcement agencies across the country, while cases were also registered against Imran Khan and his party workers.
