ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zedong has said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China will create a strong impetus to promote all-weather strategic cooperation between the two countries and further promote bilateral relations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave for China tomorrow on a 5-day visit. A high-level delegation will also accompany him, he has been invited for this visit by his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang.
Shahbaz Sharif will hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, National People’s Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Liji and other officials to discuss bilateral economic relations, CPEC, regional, global and other issues of mutual interest. It will be considered. Apart from Beijing, the Prime Minister will also visit the Chinese cities of Xi’an and Shenzhen.
The Chinese ambassador said in a statement that the Prime Minister’s visit will promote Pakistan’s economic and social development and send a strong signal of solidarity and cooperation between the two countries to the international community. Strategic contacts between the leaders of the two countries guide our relationship. During the last 73 years, the leaders of the two countries have been meeting each other like close relatives. Under the guidance of our leaders, the strong friendship between China and Pakistan has stood the test of time.
The Chinese ambassador expressed hope that the leaders of the two countries will reach a new important consensus on the high-quality development of CPEC so that China can continuously expand its practical cooperation with Pakistan and contribute to the achievement of sustainable development and future relations. The speed of development can be accelerated. There is no doubt that during the visit, the leaders of both sides will reiterate their strong support for each other on their respective core interests and key concerns.
He said that one batch of schemes have been started and completed under CPEC as Belt and Road international cooperation. These schemes resulted in direct investment of $25.4 billion in Pakistan, creation of 236,000 jobs, 510 km of highway, more than 8,000 MW of electricity and 886 km of core power transmission network.
The Chinese ambassador said that after the general elections in March, President Xi Jinping sent letters of congratulations to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on assuming office, highlighting that the two countries jointly agreed on the CPEC. should build an upgraded version of Pakistani leaders expressed their strong agreement with President Xi Jinping’s important opinion.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has written in a letter that the government has considered high quality construction of CPEC as its main agenda and has spared no effort in its implementation.
