Mumbai: Legendary Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi has slammed leaders who use religion for political gain.
In an interview to British TV, senior Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi said that leaders in India use religion as an instrument for political gain, which is wrong.
He said that religion is used in politics in other countries too, it should not happen, especially in India, because it is a secular country.
Shabana Azmi further said that people should recognize politicians who use religion and not support them. Religious identity is one of the many aspects of human life and should not create discrimination and hatred on the basis of it.
General elections are being held in India these days and the Hindu extremist party BJP is trying to get votes on the traditional Muslim hostility.
