Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that May 12 is a tragic day, there is a need to learn lessons from such tragedies.
A statement was issued from Bilawal House regarding the events that took place in Karachi on 12 May 2007. May 12 draws our attention to the ill effects of politics of tension and violence, the message said.
Bilawal Bhutto said in his message that he pays homage to all the martyrs or victims of the violent incidents of May 12 and the workers of other parties. These political activists will always be remembered for their unwavering commitment to democracy and their tireless efforts to strengthen democracy.
Chairman PP said that there is a need to learn lessons from past tragedies like May 12. History gives a regular account of the characters involved in such acts which have a lesson for future generations.
It should be noted that the tragedy of 12 May 2007 is one of the worst incidents in the history of political violence in Karachi. About 34 people were killed and 140 people were injured on the streets of Karachi that day, while property was damaged.
