The petition filed in the Lahore High Court for the reconstitution of the Election Commission has been fixed for hearing.
Chief Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed Khan will hear the petition of Talib Hussain on May 6.
It should be noted that the court has directed the petitioner’s counsel to present arguments on the admissibility of the petition.
The petitioner took the position in the appeal that the Election Commission and its members are appointed on political grounds, the status of the Election Commission and its members has become controversial due to political appointments.
He said that because of these appointments, the election conducted by the Election Commission is being criticized.
The petitioner took the stand that the court should order the serving judges to appoint the Chief Election Commissioner and the members of the Election Commission.
