Lahore: The court declared null and void the decision to recount the votes in PP 161 constituency of the Provincial Assembly.
Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court heard the petition of the petitioner Farrukh Javed Moon against the re-counting of the Provincial Assembly Constituency PP 161, in which the court annulled the re-counting notice of the Election Commission.
During the hearing, Advocate Ali Jafari appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner and told that the losing candidate of Muslim League-N, Umar Sohail Zia Butt, requested the Election Commission for a recount, on which the Election Commission issued a recount notice. .
In the petition filed in the court, it was held that the independent candidate was declared successful with 18 thousand votes in the election results. All stages of the elections have been completed. Form 47, Form 48, Form 49 have also been issued by the Election Commission. According to the law, the Election Commission cannot issue recount orders after the election process is completed. Therefore, the court should declare the notice issued by the Election Commission as illegal.
Later, the court declared the Election Commission’s notice of recount of votes in the Provincial Assembly Constituency PP 161 null and void.
