ISLAMABAD: Pakistan says that arms control contenders have given exceptions to the supply of military technology to several countries.
After the news of the US banning the companies supporting Pakistan’s missile program, the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, has said that in the past, without providing any evidence, Pakistan has been accused of being related to ballistic missiles. Sanctions have been imposed on companies.
The spokesman of the Foreign Office further said that we are not aware of the latest steps taken by the US. Even then these items were not on any control list but were considered sensitive. Pakistan has repeatedly pointed out that such items have legitimate commercial uses and therefore it is important to avoid arbitrary application of export controls.
The spokesman added that Pakistan rejects the political use of export controls. Arms control contenders have granted exceptions to the licensing of advanced military technology to several countries, posing threats to regional and global peace and security.
