Islamabad: Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani of Pakistan People’s Party was elected as Senate Chairman unopposed, no one submitted nomination papers against him.
Sardar Syed All Khan of Muslim League-N was elected as the Deputy Chairman Senate unopposed.
The Senate Secretariat has prepared the results of the unopposed success of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate, while the Senate Secretariat has prepared the report regarding the independent senators sitting in the government and opposition benches. Members have also asked for names for the opposition leader.
Ishaq Dar administered the oath to the newly elected members in the Senate meeting for the oath taking of the newly elected members of the Senate. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Yusuf Raza Gilani and other members took oath.
PTI members protested at the start of the meeting and raised slogans of disapproval of stolen Senate election. PTI’s Ali Zafar expressed his views and said that the meeting should be postponed until the KP Senator comes.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had boycotted the election of Senate Chairman and Deputy Chairman.
