The Islamabad High Court ordered the removal of the name of senior jurist Babar Awan from the ECL.
Justice Thaman Rifat Imtiaz heard the petition filed to remove Babar Awan’s name from ECL. On behalf of the petitioner, Babar Awan, counsel appeared before the High Court Bar State Ali Azad Court.
Counsel pleaded that the petitioner’s name be ordered to be removed from the ECL.
On the other hand, the Islamabad High Court directed to issue the passport to Zain Qureshi, son of Member National Assembly and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on his request to go abroad and renew his passport.
The Islamabad High Court issued a notice to the parties directing the DG Immigration to issue the passport and sought their response by April 29.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the case, lawyer Syed Ali Bukhari appeared in the court on behalf of Zain Qureshi.
The Chief Justice asked the petitioner’s lawyer that what is the problem? Lawyer Ali Bukhari said that the problem is to go abroad but they say the passport has expired, instructions should be given to the DG Immigration to issue a new passport.
The lawyer said that if he has a passport, he will be able to go abroad, and instructions should also be given to remove Zain Qureshi’s name from the no-fly list and ECL.
The court adjourned the hearing till April 29 while issuing a new passport and issuing a notice to the parties.
