Rawalpindi: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee met President Asif Zardari and congratulated him on assuming the office of President.
In the meeting, both the leaders expressed their determination to root out the scourge of terrorism with the cooperation of the nation. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad briefed the President about the country’s security situation and the operational preparations of the armed forces.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee said that armed forces are capable of effectively dealing with internal and external security challenges. The President appreciated the role of armed forces in the defense of national borders, socio-economic development of the country. The President said that there is full confidence that the security forces will successfully overcome the internal and external security challenges.
