Peshawar: The court has issued notices to Speaker and Deputy Speaker of KP Assembly on contempt of court petition for not taking oath on certain seats.
A 2-member bench comprising Justice SM Atiq Shah and Justice Syed Arshad Ali of Peshawar High Court heard contempt of court petitions regarding non-swearing of members on certain seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
The court issued a notice to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly and sought their response at the next hearing.
It has been argued on behalf of the petitioner that the court ordered the oath to be taken by the elected members on certain seats, despite which the oath was not taken. Speaker and Deputy Speaker have violated court orders, on which contempt of court action should be taken against the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Provincial Assembly.
