Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Ministry of Commerce to make a plan to double domestic exports in the next five years, provide facilities to exporters in the e-commerce sector and solve the problems of Made in Pakistan brand exporters immediately.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister on the development of the export sector. The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Commerce to prepare and present a plan of action to double the country’s exports in the next 5 years after consulting all the stakeholders and entrepreneurs.
He said that measures are being taken to take full advantage of the full potential of Pakistan’s export sector. The stakeholders of the sector should be taken into confidence for the promotion of exports of IT, household products, textiles and unique sectors. Exports that are part of global value chains should formulate recommendations to encourage the development of their industry.
Besides, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Gulbar Khan met the Prime Minister. Shahbaz Sharif said that the development of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, provision of health and education facilities to them is the first priority of the government.
The Prime Minister directed to prepare and present the action plan regarding the development of tourism and solar energy projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. He formed a committee regarding the solution of the problems faced by Gilgit-Baltistan and directed that the committee should submit its recommendations after consultation. In Gilgit-Baltistan, Danish schools are being established for the boys and girls belonging to poor and indigent families. Danish Schools will provide international quality education to the children as well as accommodation facilities.
The Prime Minister directed that knowledge schools should be constructed in all three divisions of Gilgit-Baltistan. He directed to accelerate the pace of work on the completion of Attabad and Harpo hydropower projects. Ambassador of Iran Reza Amiri Moghaddam met the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need to work together to enhance trade, energy cooperation, road and rail connectivity, cultural exchange, counter-terrorism efforts and security cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. He said that he appreciated Iran’s support on the issue of Occupied Kashmir.
Congratulating the newly elected senators on their success, the Prime Minister said that the Senate elections are a continuation of the democratic process. It is hoped that the newly elected senators will play their role for the upliftment of the constitution and the development of the country. Newly elected senators should participate in effective legislation for public welfare and national development and prosperity, the role of senators is very important for the strength of federal units and the observance of democratic values.
