Gujranwala: The first verdict in the cases of May 9 incidents in the country was pronounced in Gujranwala.
The female judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced 51 accused involved in the May 9 case in the Central Jail to 20, 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.
The newly elected MPA of PTI from Gujranwala Kaleemullah Khan is also among the accused.
The accused were also convicted for blocking the road, causing damage to property, crowd gathering among other provisions. According to the verdict, a total of 51 criminals have been sentenced to 20, 20 years of imprisonment in 8 sections.
On this occasion, the security of the Central Jail was on high alert and a heavy police force was deployed. The case of attacks on sensitive installations, arson and siege was going on in the jail for three months.
On May 9, sensitive installations were attacked by PTI workers during the protest. In the attack of the protestors, ten police personnel including an SP were injured and a civilian was killed while four vehicles were also vandalized.
The Cantt police station registered a case against 23 named and 3-400 unknown persons including ticket holders of PTI on the complaint of SHO Mudassar Butt. Police arrested 51 accused involved.
In this case, the court has also ordered seizure of property of PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Murad Saeed, Ali Amin Gandapur. Several named leaders are on interim bail from the courts.
