ISLAMABAD: The IMF has recommended full implementation of modern track and trace system ahead of new program to curb tax evasion and bring new people into the tax net.
Seeing the performance of FBRK, the Prime Minister decided to monitor the matter personally, and directed the authorities to fully implement the conditions agreed with the IMF.
According to the sources of FBR, the process of gradual implementation of track and trace system in various sectors is going on and its scope is being expanded gradually.
Sources in the Ministry of Finance said that the IMF has expressed its dissatisfaction with the track and trace system managed by the FBR and has demanded its full application to all industries.
FBR did not take effective measures to prevent tax evasion in cigarette, sugar, fertilizer and cement industries, during the last 2 years, track and trace system could not be applied anywhere except fertilizer industry.
The IMF has demanded the installation of an automatic track and trace system in the manufacturing sector and said that before the new program track and trace should be applied in all four industries, the units that are not included in the system should be sealed.
