ISLAMABAD: On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Character Education Foundation (CEF) Mahmood Ahmed was invited to the office of the Federal Ministry of Education and Vocational Training and discussed the inclusion of subjects related to values and character in the national curriculum. went.
Mr. Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani, Special Secretary, Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, shared with the Chairman of Character Education Foundation the vision of the Prime Minister to provide education based on character and values to the students of Pakistan.
In this important meeting, Federal Minister of Education Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chairman of National Rahmatul-Lalameen and Khatam-ul-Nabieen Authority Khurshid Ahmad Nadeem, Director Sohail Bin Aziz and Director of NCC Dr. Shafqat Ali Janjua were also present.
Later, a detailed introductory meeting was also held at the office of National Rahmat-ul-Lalameen wa Khatam-ul-Nabieen Authority, where the Chairman Character Education Foundation informed about the contents of the Character Education Framework prepared by his foundation.
Under which some topics related to values and character education have been included in the national curriculum of Pakistan. These are mainly included as a ‘cross-cutting theme’ across various subjects including Islamic studies, languages, general knowledge, and social sciences.
It was further agreed that there is a need for a multi-pronged strategy to build student character in the National Curriculum where the following strategies will be adopted.
The relevance of the character education foundation framework will be examined and strategies will be devised to fill gaps where found.
It was also agreed in the meeting that another meeting will be held in the next three days where a detailed program of values and character based education will be launched in Islamabad Capital Territory starting from the new academic year 2024-25. The program will be arranged.
This will include teaching students in the classroom, co-curricular activities including morning assemblies, and teacher training.
The next meeting in this regard will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024.
