Washington: In response to a question regarding the similarities between the recent elections in Pakistan and Russia, the response of America came out.
In the weekly news briefing of the US Department of State, a journalist asked a question that there was a similarity between the elections in Russia and Pakistan that the opposition was not given opportunities to campaign in both countries and this has been reported repeatedly in the media. But what will you comment?
In response to this question, Vedant Patel, the spokesperson of the US State Department, has said that I do not think it is correct to compare the democratic process (election) in Pakistan and Russia because the first thing is that Pakistan is a country where the media is quite strong. It also expresses disagreement.
The US spokesman added that in comparison, there are clear examples and incidents of media suppression and silencing of dissenting voices in Russia.
Vedanta Patel further said that the decision of choosing their leadership should be decided by the people of these countries. For which people should have the right to access information that will help them make decisions about who they want to lead their country and what direction they want their country to take.
It should be remembered that in the recent presidential election in Russia, Vladimir Putin once again became the president with a huge majority, and his opponent could only get 3 or 4 percent of the votes.
It is being accused that the opposition was not allowed to campaign in the Russian presidential election and the entire leadership was put in jail.
