Rawalpindi: Although the price of bread in Punjab has been fixed at Rs 16, cases have been registered against seven bakers in Rawalpindi for overcharging, fines have been imposed on 68 bakers and four ovens have been sealed.
Punjab government has fixed the price of 100 grams of bread at 16 rupees, while the price of 120 grams of bread has been fixed at 20 rupees. District administrations across Punjab, including Rawalpindi, are active to implement the prices, on the other hand, bakers’ associations have not accepted the reduction in the price of bread, instead of reducing the reasonable prices of petrol, diesel and electricity. It is indicated to sell at the prices.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema said that price magistrates are active to ensure the implementation of the prices of bread and bread set by the Punjab government throughout the district, more than 100 ovens were checked during 24 hours. The bakers were found guilty of the violation of receiving money in excess of the fixed prices of bread and bread by the Punjab government, on which a fine of 1 lakh 70 thousand rupees was imposed.
