It has been 40 years since Khawaja Khursheed Anwar, the famous musician of the country, who composed the tunes of innumerable and timeless songs, left his fans, but his tunes still captivate people.
Born on March 21, 1912 in Mianwali, Khwaja Khursheed Anwar completed his MA in Philosophy from Government College Lahore in 1935, passed the ICC examination in 1936 and rose to a high rank in the Civil Service. This great musician of his era started his artistic career in 1939 with All India Radio.
He also composed popular tunes on matchstick debia instead of harmonium or any other instrument. After moving from Mumbai to Lahore, Khawaja Khurshid composed music for a total of 28 films. The songs of the movie “Koil”, “Chingari”, “Ghonghat”, “Hamraz”, “Intattaar” and “Hiranjha” are the testimony of his high artistic talent. However, the popular song “Sun Vanjali Ji Mithri Thalve” from the movie “Hiranjha” gave him lasting fame.
He also excelled as a director and directed several successful films including ‘Humraaz’, ‘Changari’ and ‘Ghonghat’. In 1980, he was awarded Satara Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan. Apart from this, in 1982, he was awarded the “Fani Insan Lafani Geet Award” by the Indian Film Industry.
Khawaja Khursheed on 30th October 1984 Jamal from Khaliq Haqi. However, he is still alive in people’s hearts due to his melodious songs.
