Islamabad: In the first two months of this financial year, a 27 percent increase was recorded in remittances sent by Pakistanis residing in European Union countries.
According to the current data of State Bank, in July and August, Pakistanis living in EU member countries sent foreign exchange worth 727 million dollars, which is 27% higher than the 574 million dollars sent in the same period of the last financial year.
The volume of remittances from the European Union in August was a record of 376 million dollars, which is 29% higher than the volume of 291 million dollars in August last year. In July, the volume of remittances was recorded at 351 million dollars.
