RAWALPINDI/ PESHAWAR/ ISLAMABAD: The acquittal pleas of Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra in the £190 million reference have been set for hearing in the Islamabad High Court today.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Gul Hasan Aurangzeb will hold the court. The last hearing on the acquittal pleas was held on October 2. The Islamabad High Court has restrained the trial court from pronouncing the final judgment on the reference.
The accountability court had rejected the acquittal pleas of Imran Khan and Bushra, which they have challenged in the Islamabad High Court. According to Express from Rawalpindi, the jail trial of Imran Khan was restored, Bushra was absent in the hearing to be held after 3 weeks. The Accountability Court adjourned the hearing of the £190 million reference until tomorrow without action.
Imran Khan was presented before Judge Nasir Javed, but Bushra’s lawyer Usman Riaz did not appear. Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar filed two different applications. do
In the second application, the stand was adopted. Bushra’s lawyer Usman Riaz could not appear due to personal engagement, postpone the hearing for one week. After hearing the arguments, the court adjourned the hearing till tomorrow while directing Bushra and his lawyer Usman Riaz to appear.
Imran met sisters Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, Noreen Khan and nephew Qasim Khan. Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majuka extended the interim bail of Bushra till November 4 in the Tosha Khana fake receipts cases, while accepting the request for exemption from one day’s attendance.
Imran Khan’s bail applications in 3 cases will be heard on November 4. Imran Khan and Bushra have applied for bail, while the former prime minister has also filed a bail application in two cases of vandalism and protest.
Meanwhile, Bushra approached the Peshawar High Court to provide the details of the cases against him and to grant him bail. In this regard, he filed two writ petitions and requested to stay the arrest so that he can approach the courts. A two-member bench consisting of Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Asadullah will hold the hearing today.
