Trump Claims Iran Has Lost Navy, Air Force and Currency
WASHINGTON, August 31, 2026: U.S. President Donald Trump has described Iran as a “failed state,” claiming that the country has been left without an effective navy, air force or currency and is struggling to pay members of its military and police forces.
According to international media reports, Trump made the remarks while again criticizing Iran’s leadership and its economic condition.
Commenting on the country’s inflation, Trump claimed that Iran’s inflation rate had reached as high as 300 percent, pointing to what he described as severe economic deterioration.
Trump also accused Iran’s leadership of being in disarray and said it had failed to effectively represent the country. He argued that Iran was facing serious economic and administrative challenges that had contributed to an increasingly difficult situation.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has urged Gulf countries to recognize what he described as the plans of their “real enemies” and work collectively to counter them.
Khamenei called for greater unity, mutual defense and cooperation among Muslim countries, warning that divisions within the Muslim world could serve the interests of its opponents.
He said countries in the region should identify their genuine threats and strengthen cooperation rather than allowing disputes to deepen divisions among Muslim states.
The sharply contrasting statements from Washington and Tehran underscore the continuing political and strategic tensions surrounding Iran and the wider Gulf region.
