ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb says that if we do not increase our tax revenues, this will not be our last IMF program.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, in an interview with the British journal Financial Times, said that the government is hopeful of reaching a staff-level agreement with the IMF this month, but if we do not increase our tax revenues, this is our last chance. There will be no MF program.
Mohammad Aurangzeb said that the agreement made by the government with the IMF has been estimated at 6 to 8 billion dollars.
He further said that as long as the economy remains import based, we will continue to run out of dollars, Pakistan is dependent on imports which leads to borrowing more to service the debt.
