ISLAMABAD: NEPRA has completed the hearing on the inquiry related to CPPA and NTDC and reserved the decision while the request was made to increase the price of electricity by Rs 7 13 paise.
Chairman Nepra Waseem Mukhtar said that there is concern over the request to increase the price of electricity. We also have to face our conscience. The authority should not be considered as a rubber stamp, it has to protect the consumers. A consumer complaints app will be launched this month.
CPP officials said that fuel price for January is 7 rupees 13 paise. NTDC officials said that the power generation in the country remained low overall this season.
Member Nepra said that due to the system on South-North, about 50% of Rs 26 billion will be borne by FCA consumers. The problem between departments is paying in the form of consumer burden.
NEPRA issued an order to implement the recommendations made in the inquiry report after not receiving a satisfactory response on the irregularities found in the billing of K Electric and DISCOs. The authority ordered the distribution companies to immediately replace the meters that are defective for 2 months and collect the bill based on the actual meter reading on these meters.
The authority said from June 2023, fix the category of customers whose category has changed from protected to non-protected due to billing for more than 30 days.
