KARACHI: Due to climate change and environmental pollution, adenovirus has become uncontrollable in Shahr Quaid.
Due to climate change in Karachi, the cases of cold, fever, cough, chest infection have increased rapidly in the last 15 to 20 days, more than a thousand patients are coming to Civil Hospital with these symptoms every day.
AMS Civil Hospital Dr. Harish Kumar said that 782 cases of AD virus and acute respiratory tract infection were reported in OPD of Civil Hospital on Saturday, while today the number has increased to 1,275.
He said that most of the patients are coming with headache, cold and fever and cold but if their blood pressure test is done it is normal, this fever lasts for about a week.
He said that special care should be taken of children and elderly people, he suggested citizens to use boiled water and masks while avoiding substandard food.
He said that when patients come to us with complaints of fever and sore throat, we give them antipyretics, antibiotics and cough medicines from the hospital itself. The weather is cool in the night and evening while hot in the afternoon, the number of these cases is increasing due to climate change and environmental pollution.
Adenoviruses are a group of common viruses that can infect your airways and lungs, eyes, intestines, urinary tract, and nervous system. Fever, cough, sore throat, diarrhea and pink eye are its symptoms. Infections usually cause only mild symptoms and get better on their own within a few days.
Dr. Faisal Javed, general physician of Jinnah Hospital Karachi, said that Adeno is not a new virus, there is a vaccine for it, it is possible to prevent it through influenza and corona vaccine, diabetics and asthma patients should be more careful.
He said that since it is a viral infection that is capable of being transmitted from one person to another, there is no need to panic or panic, just citizens should maintain social distance from each other and wear masks.
