DG ISPR says Pakistan will stand with Saudi Arabia against any aggression while keeping defence strategies confidential.
ISLAMABAD, September 18, 2026: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, saying the country remains prepared to extend every possible support in the event of aggression against the Kingdom.
In an interview with an Arab television channel, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan’s commitment to the protection of Saudi Arabia and the sanctity of the Holy Mosques remains unwavering.
He said Pakistan would continue cooperation with Saudi Arabia at every level and stand alongside its “Saudi brothers” against any aggressive action.
The DG ISPR described the historical, political and military ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as strong and enduring, stressing that Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi security was unconditional.
He added that the two countries continue to work together for regional peace and stability on the basis of mutual trust, bilateral defence relations and existing agreements.
The remarks came a day after the DG ISPR addressed questions regarding Pakistan’s possible response to an attack in the context of the Makkah Agreement.
He said defence strategies and operational procedures are never disclosed publicly. In any emergency, he explained, the countries concerned would determine their course of action through mutual consultation, while details of security and military operations would remain confidential.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also emphasized that the Makkah Agreement was purely defensive in nature and should not be a source of concern.
He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have several defence cooperation agreements under which consultations on security matters continue. However, decisions regarding timely responses and potential action remain with the concerned countries.
Analysts cited in the report said Pakista n’s position reflects the longstanding defence and strategic relationship between Pakista’n and Saudi Arabia, while maintaining confidentiality surrounding defence arrangements remains an important aspect of strategic decision-making.
