Pakistan Intensifies Diplomatic Outreach to Revive Iran-US Dialogue Amid Rising Regional Tensions
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has accelerated its diplomatic engagement in response to renewed tensions between Iran and the United States, reaffirming its commitment to dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution as concerns grow over regional stability.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and senior Saudi officials, urging all parties to exercise restraint and return to negotiations. Pakistan stressed that diplomacy remains the most effective path to reducing tensions and preventing further escalation.
During his discussion with the Iranian foreign minister, Dar reiterated Pakistan’s support for dialogue and confidence-building measures, emphasizing that sustainable peace in the region can only be achieved through diplomatic engagement. He also conveyed Islamabad’s readiness to continue playing a constructive role in promoting regional stability.
In a separate meeting, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, called on the deputy prime minister in Islamabad. Both sides reviewed the evolving security situation in the Middle East and agreed on the importance of strengthening diplomatic coordination to support peace efforts.
Dar also met Lord Amir Sarfraz, who commended Pakistan’s consistent diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing regional tensions and encouraging peaceful solutions.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the latest developments in the region, calling on all stakeholders to avoid further escalation, demonstrate restraint, and fulfill commitments aimed at lowering tensions. The ministry said Pakistan is closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to supporting all efforts that promote lasting peace through dialogue.
The renewed hostilities between Iran and the United States have heightened concerns across the region, with the Strait of Hormuz once again emerging as a strategic flashpoint. Analysts warn that continued military confrontation could threaten broader regional security and disrupt ongoing diplomatic initiatives.
Pakista ni officials maintain that sustained diplomacy is the only realistic way to prevent the crisis from expanding into a wider conflict. Islamabad is expected to continue engaging regional and international partners in support of de-escalation and long-term stability.
