ADELAIDE: Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has opened up about the drinking incident that left him hospitalized.
The night after attending an exhibition golf event in Adelaide last month, he attended a performance by former cricketer Brett Lee’s band at a hotel, then drank so much alcohol in the band room that he passed out, prompting an ambulance call. And he was taken to the hospital, where he was kept for some time in emergency, after which he was not punished by Cricket Australia but was not selected for the ODI series against the West Indies, the second T20 from the same team. He scored an unbeaten lightning century.
“This incident has had a profound impact on my personal life and family, I regret my actions and am grateful to the cricket community for their support,” Maxwell said.
