KARACHI: Police in Shahr Quaid arrested 3 suspects including a Lyari gang war operative during the encounters and recovered weapons.
According to the police, the accused arrested by the Kalri police belongs to the Lyari gang war Azir Baloch group, which has been involved in other serious crimes including extortion.
The Kallari police arrested a dacoit in an injured condition after an alleged encounter near the old truck depot on Maripur Road between Thursday and Friday, who was shifted to the Civil Hospital, where he was identified as 31-year-old Muhammad Afzal Shah son of Ghulam. Done in the name of Mustafa.
A pistol along with bullets, mobile phone and cash were recovered from the arrested accused. The arrested accused, the leader of the Lyari gang war, Azir Baloch, is an activist of the Baloch group and has been involved in extortion. The accused used to extort and threaten builders, businessmen and other capitalists in the name of Azir Baloch. The accused has also been involved in several incidents of extortion and robbery. Eight cases have been registered against the arrested accused in Baghdadi, Kalri, Eidgah and Napier police stations under the arms act, extortion, robbery and drug dealing among other provisions.
Meanwhile, the Paposhnagar police arrested two robbers, including an injured one, who were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital after an alleged encounter near Paposh graveyard Amjad Sabri Qawal Mazar between Thursday and Friday. The injured accused was identified as Shabbir Ahmed son of Gulzar, the other arrested accused gave his name as Rashid Iqbal son of Zafar Iqbal. Other accomplices of the arrested accused managed to escape from the spot. One nine mm and one 30 bore pistol with bullets, three mobile phones, cash and a motorcycle will be recovered from the arrested accused.
