LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami refused to cooperate with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf for government formation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson Qaiser Sharif, the initial consultation regarding alliance with PTI of Jamaat-e-Islami has been completed. Jamaat-e-Islami had decided that cooperation with Tehreek-e-Insaaf at the national level would be in the national interest, but Tehreek-e-Insaaf has changed its position.
The spokesman said that Jamaat-e-Islami would be happy to settle its affairs with whomever it wants in PTI-KP.

According to the statement issued by Jamaat-e-Islami, after the elections of February 8, 2024, the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf contacted Jamaat-e-Islami that Jamaat-e-Islami and Tehreek-e-Insaf should agree on a common strategy in the new situation. Immediately after this, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan consulted with the central leadership and officials and established a committee consisting of Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Inayatullah Khan, Deputy Amir of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the leadership of Liaquat Baloch. .
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami said that the committee members contacted Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Barrister Gohar Khan, Chairman PTI, Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub Khan and Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and discussed the country’s election situation.
According to the statement, the leadership of Tehreek-e-Insaaf was informed by Jamaat-e-Islami that Jamaat-e-Islami has major concerns about the 2024 elections. Changing the election results and reversing the results forcefully is a disgrace and a dirty game for democracy which will harm the country and democracy. However, Jamaat-e-Islami welcomes the MLAs who won from the public mandate. At the last stage, the leadership of Tehreek-e-Insaf sent a message that they want cooperation only to the extent of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while at the national level they will not cooperate with Jamaat-e-Islami. Liaquat Baloch informed the leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaf that a reply will be given after consultation on the second stand changed by him.
Liaqat Baloch said that after consultation, Jamaat-e-Islami decided that cooperation between Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami at the national level would be in the national interest, but Tehreek-e-Insaf has changed its position, so it can deal with whoever it wants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
