ISLAMABAD: The IMF has given priority to the completion of the $3 billion standby arrangement program and has indicated to send a mission for another economic assessment after the formation of the new cabinet of Pakistan.
International Monetary Fund (IMF) Director of Communications Julie Kozek refrained from commenting on Pakistan’s political situation during a press briefing in Washington, saying that to work on policies with the new government of Pakistan to ensure economic stability. He said that the current standby arrangement agreement expires in April 2024, Pakistan has received 1.9 billion dollars under the standby arrangement, strict fiscal policy to control inflation has been maintained during the caretaker government, and the authorities have implemented social Steps taken to ensure safety.
The director of communication said that economic stability was maintained during Pakistan’s caretaker government, fiscal targets were strictly followed with increase in foreign exchange reserves, timely adjustment of tariffs in the energy sector was implemented.
Julie Kozek said that the completion of the 3 billion dollar standby arrangement program with Pakistan is a priority, for which they are ready to send a mission for economic assessments after the formation of the new cabinet of Pakistan.
