Washington: Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, in his address to the joint session of the US Congress, praised his allies in the Gaza war and said that I have come to America to thank you on behalf of the Israeli people.
According to the world news agency, this was the fourth time the Israeli Prime Minister addressed the American Congress, which broke the record of the late British Prime Minister Winston Churchill for the most number of speeches to the American Congress.
However, on this historic occasion, the Israeli Prime Minister faced severe criticism and protests due to the aggression in Gaza. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to listen to the speech.
Similarly, some members left their seats and walked out of the House during the speech.
On the other hand, during Netanyahu’s speech, a large crowd gathered outside the parliament and shouted slogans against Israeli aggression. Police detained more than 200 protesters.
This demonstration was so intense that Netanyahu could not avoid mentioning this protest in his speech. The Israeli Prime Minister told the protesters that you people are fools and are deliberately becoming a tool of Iran.
To the applause of US members of parliament, Netanyahu expressed his war ambitions to maintain security control over Gaza, saying that if Hamas surrenders, the war in Gaza will end.
The Israeli Prime Minister added that I have come to assure you of one thing that we will win. Peaceful efforts to return the hostages will succeed and we will not sit with China until then.
On this occasion, Netanyahu addressed the United States and demanded the immediate delivery of weapons to complete the mission in Gaza as soon as possible.
Netanyahu dismissed the assertion that we are trying to displace the displaced in Gaza. We have no objection to Gaza being administered by the Palestinian Civil Administration. Gaza should be managed by Palestinians who do not want to destroy Israel.
The Israeli prime minister thanked President Biden for his support in the Gaza war and former President Donald Trump for countering Iran’s aggression, from recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, recognizing Jerusalem as its capital and moving the US embassy there. Thank you also.
