Washington: The US has said that it does not want to comment before the formation of a new government in Pakistan.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a media briefing that if a coalition government is formed in any country, it is the country’s own decision. This is not a matter for us to discuss.
The spokesperson further said that we want a full investigation into the allegations of rigging and irregularities in the election. There is concern over the partial or complete shutdown of the Internet and social media in Pakistan and the restriction of freedom of expression.
The spokesperson of the Department of Foreign Affairs said that Pakistan is asked to respect freedom of expression and restore all social media platforms including Twitter. Pakistan will continue to highlight the importance of the fundamental right to freedom of expression in communications with the authorities.
