Former Test cricketer Basit Ali made an important prediction regarding the future of Pakistan’s current white ball coach Gary Kirsten.
On his YouTube channel, former cricketer Basit Ali on the future of the national team’s white-ball format has predicted that the ICC Champions Trophy will be phased out after 2025.
He said that if the 56-year-old Gary Kirsten from South Africa succeeds in making the national cricket team in the top 4 in the Champions Trophy as a head coach, then it will be a major achievement for Pakistan.
The performance of the green shirts in the T20 World Cup under the supervision of Gary Kirsten, who took charge earlier this year, has been very disappointing, while he played a major role in being knocked out of the event by a surprise defeat by a new born team like USA.
The former cricketer said that Gary Kirsten is lucky to be officiating for Pakistan in the Champions Trophy but he is set to leave after the event.
It may be noted that Gary Kirsten attended an important meeting called Connection Camp organized by PCB on Monday, in which issues like workload on cricketers, management and unity among the team were considered.
It should be noted that Gary Kirsten’s achievements as a coach include leading India to the 2011 World Cup title.
