Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami has announced to start a protest campaign from February 23 against the alleged rigging during the general elections.
According to Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson Qaiser Sharif, Jharlo will take all constitutional and democratic means to expose the election. Jamaat-e-Islami will start a protest campaign from February 23. The first protest will be in Peshawar, led by Sirajul Haque.
He said that there will be a conference to save democracy in Islamabad on February 25. The Election Commissioner should resign. A High Judicial Commission should be constituted for a complete audit and investigation of the election process. There will be no compromise on the struggle for people’s rights.
Qaiser Sharif said that the caretaker government and the Election Commission failed 100% in fulfilling their responsibility. Institutional intervention did not end, nor were lessons learned from history. Political parties look towards personal interests instead of the country and the nation. The political life of PPP, Muslim League-N, MQM is in the parrot of power. They will do power sharing at any cost with every disgrace.
Jamaat-e-Islami spokesperson said that people are awake and want to get rid of such politics. Now people want stability and success of Pakistan. Independent media and institutions have expressed reservations about the election to be held on February 8.
