KARACHI: New oil and gas deposits have been discovered in Sindh, while gas deposits were also discovered in Kohlu district of Balochistan in the past few days.
Oil and Gas Development Company has informed that oil and gas reserves in Sindh have been discovered by OGDCL Company. The well in Khairpur district will produce 14.3 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
In a letter written by OGDCL to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, it has been stated that the said well will also yield 93 barrels of crude oil per day. The new discovery will increase the country’s oil and gas reserves.
It should be noted that only last week, Mari Petroleum announced the discovery of new gas deposits which were discovered in Kohlu district of Balochistan. According to the initial estimate, up to 64 lakh cubic feet of gas will be obtained from here per day. A well was drilled up to 2516 meters for gas discovery.
Also, last month, OGDCL successfully tested production from huge crude oil reserves in Sindh. According to the spokesperson, the required production was achieved after drilling up to 2350 meters deep in Sono Well No. 9. During initial results the well produced 1850 barrels of crude oil per day which has been added to the system.
